PAINTING fundamentals

This class will cover composition, value/contrast/depth, colour theory and the basics of building a successful painting from photographic sources or still life (oil or acrylic).  Please bring your own materials - see materials list.

LIFE DRAWING

This class is perfect for any artist – beginner or advanced – to continue to develop and master the art of drawing using the model. Each class will begin with gesture drawing followed by more sustained poses.  Students will learn the fundamentals of drawing – gesture, line, tone, shape relationships, proportion, and much more!  All drawing and painting materials are welcome.

abstract painting & printmaking

This course is divided into two parts. Abstract Painting; Students will be introduced to several approaches of abstract painting and contemporary artists' work and will explore their own sources of inspiration. Printmaking: Students will be introduced to basic printmaking using the “lino-cut” method. Please bring your own materials, see materials list. Some tools will be provided.

watercolour explorations

The instructor will guide you through classic techniques of using watercolour as well as exploring creative tricks of the trade. Students will be encouraged to try representational and abstract forms. Please bring your own materials - see materials list.

This class focuses on how to approach painting outdoors. Fundamental elements of painting will be taught along with learning how to quickly build a painting. The locations will vary but will centre around Stayner, Wasaga Beach and Collingwood.

"a fruitful day": coloured pencil techniques

Participants will learn coloured pencil techniques through the completion of a fruit or vegetable drawing. Lessons will be taught on colour theory, blending, layering and application/materials. This is an excellent starting point for coloured pencil enthusiasts offering a foundation from which to move forward into other classes and projects. Don't miss this opportunity to learn to colour like the pros!
